2006 Commercial Variety Trial

Our 2005 main Kentucky wheat research location was on Don Lassiter's farm just east of Adairville. The plot was planted on November 8th in a stale, conventional seedbed following a 175 bu/A corn crop. The soil is a Pembroke silt loam with 2.3% organic matter. DAP 200 lbs/A and potash 100 lbs/A preplant fertilizer was applied.

Spring nitrogen was split applied with 50 lbs N applied at Feekes 3 and 65 lbs N applied at Feekes 6. All other inputs were consistent with intensive management practices such as applicable weed, insect and disease control.

2005 Commercial Variety Trial

We also conducted a series of studies in Hopkinsville, KY again this year. The plot was located on the Isom Bros. Farm near the convention center. The trials were planted October 17th following 3 discings. We were following a 220 bu/A corn crop and 300 lbs/A MAP was utilized as the preplant fertilizer. Spring nitrogen consisted of 45 lbs N at Feekes 3 and 70 lbs N at Feekes 6.
