Dec. 2007 - Immediate openings, call C. Bowley 270.792.4600
We are looking for motivated individuals to train and become members of our crop consulting and
research management team. Although there is no specific course curriculum that best prepares an
individual, we prefer that all applicants have a good understanding of soils, plant physiology, plant
pathology and entomology. Since part of our service to growers includes drill and sprayer calibration,
applicants would be better suited to have a good understanding of mechanics. Primarily, we are looking
to employ persons that are self motivated, can work on their own, have good people skills and are willing
to learn.
Successful applicants will receive in the field training for all aspects of our service. We work
directly with the grower on such issues as preplant fertility, variety selection, tillage and planting
date. In the field, we set the drill to insure proper seed placement and seeding rate. After emergence,
we thoroughly scout each field to determine weed, disease and insect pressure and make control
recommendations as necessary. We are also responsible for determining proper timing and rates of
fertilizer applications.
The trained consultant would be placed in an area where the potential for success is great. Once in a
position with a customer base, the consultant enters a profit sharing plan where hard work is awarded with
increased income.
Historically, research technicians have been based out of our Russellville, KY location. This group
manages research locations that are in place to support the consultants. Currently Wheat Tech has plot
locations in Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee.
